Introduction

Founded in 1899, the current W.A. School of Art, Design, Media and Digital Content has a long history of training generations of artists, designers and craft makers in areas as diverse as visual art, graphic/industrial design, film, music and printing. Delivering study levels ranging from entry certificates to advanced diploma.
The CentralTAFE Art School is responsible for the Visual art, Fashion, Jewellery and Printing, spread out over three buildings and located in the cultural precinct of Perth. Preparing students for fulfilling careers is a priority, so tuition is built around industry projects and studio workshops that simulate professional workplace experience.
The visual art and craft building at 12 Aberdeen Street opened in 1999 and includes an art gallery, specialised workshops, and renovated heritage cottage for Artists-in-Residence which supports a vibrant program of visiting practitioners from around the country and overseas.
In 2007 the Print, Jewellery and Mac lab building at 133 Newcastle street was opened. It located at the rear of the Art and Craft building and houses the Digital media labs, Jewellery workshops and Print industries studios
Lecturers maintain a high profile presence in local and national exhibitions and are actively engaged in creating opportunities for their students’ career pathways. |
